Physical and Virtual Computing Software

The physical and virtual computing software market includes the software and services related to the foundation layer for software products that collectively operate the hardware on which business applications are built. One of the functional market is operating systems and subsystems, which is defined as the operating platform layer that bootstraps and controls the physical hardware platform (or a virtual manifestation of the physical hardware platform, such as the one emulated by hypervisors). They are designed to control hardware resources via machine-level instructions, abstracted via device drivers and part of the centralized control facility known as a kernel.
