Edge computing is a distributed computing infrastructure that brings the data
processing closer to the source of its origin thereby reducing the latency issues. With rapid proliferation of connected endpoints and volume of data generated from these endpoints can create bottleneck at the centralized core datacenters. Edge computing infrastructure resides nearer to the endpoints to facilitate local data processing, which reduces data traverse to the cloud, hence latency is reduced. Distributing endpoints gives better visibility and reduces risk of security breach by reducing the threat surface. Edge computing plays a key role in delivering faster data rates and reliable low-latency connectivity in 5G connectivity, thereby improving customer experience.
